OK, I admit it. I’m having a hard time remembering that I’m supposed to post onTuesdays now instead of Saturdays. Please be patient with me, I set up an alarm system for myself and I WILL be better! I promise.
For today I’m going to show you all how truly little I know about literature by doing a literary MeMe that Charlene tagged me with. Yeah, I know, in her blog post she says she didn;t tag anyone, but she did. She just did it privately. Ask Jordan.
1) What author do you own the most books by? Janet Evanovich, Lee Child, Patricia Briggs
2) What book do you own the most copies of? None, I’m a one copy kind of girl.
3) Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions?
I didn’t even notice.
4) What fictional character are you secretly in love with? Ranger, from the Stephanie Plum books.
5) What book have you read the most times in your life (excluding
picture books read to children; i.e., Goodnight Moon does not count)?
I have no idea. I’d have to say either Hot Six by Janet Evanovich or It Had to Be You by SEP
6) What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
Any and all Archie Digests.
7) What is the worst book you’ve read in the past year?
I don’t remember the bad ones, only the keepers.
9) If you could force everyone you tagged to read one book, what would
it be? My Prerogative by Sasha White, I could use a good boost in Sales.
10) Who deserves to win the next Nobel Prize for Literature?
I have No Idea.
11) What book would you most like to see made into a movie?
The Persuader or One SHot by Lee Child. Or almost any of the Jack Reacher books
12) What book would you least like to see made into a movie?
The Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. I really love the books, and I just think a movie would ruin them for me because they change things. Not to say the movie would be bad, but that I personally think the books rock so much because we’re in Stephanie’s head, and that probably won’t translate in a movie.
13) Describe your weirdest dream involving a writer, book, or literary
character.
I can’t think of anything…
14) What is the most lowbrow book you’ve read as an adult?
I don’t t hink any books are lowbrow. Not enough people read, so reading anything is good. That said, does US magazine count?
15) What is the most difficult book you’ve ever read?
I tried to read The Hobbit, but never got past the beginning.
16) What is the most obscure Shakespeare play you’ve seen?
I’ve never seen a Shakespeare play.
17) Do you prefer the French or the Russians?
I have no clue about this literature wise, but Russia has some great hockey players.
18) Roth or Updike?
Who are they?
19) David Sedaris or Dave Eggers?
Uhmm, who are these guys too?
20) Shakespeare, Milton, or Chaucer? Shakespeare.
21) Austen or Eliot?
I’ve never read either but I’ll say Austin since I have a volume of hers on my bookshelf…someday I will read it.
22) What is the biggest or most embarrassing gap in your reading?
Isn;t it obvious? Classic Literature.
23) What is your favorite novel?
I don’t really have ONE favorite.
24) Play?
Only ever seen one…and can;t remember the name of it.
25) Poem?
Don’t like poetry…never did “get it”.
26) Essay?
Hmmm… I’m feeling very illiterate here…..so I’ll copy Charlene’s answer…it sounds like something I’d like.
The one Montaigne wrote about loving your works, however
badly they came out, the way a parent loves a deformed child. Can’t
remember the title but you really can’t go wrong with any of Montaigne’s
essays. Still, that one especially speaks to all writers.
27) Short story?
I give up…I can pick at least three from the Thriller 2 anthology.
28) Work of nonfiction?
The Warrior Athlete by Dan Millman
29) Who is your favorite writer?
I can’t pick just one… I have many favorites.
30) Who is the most overrated writer alive today?
I have no clue. I think anyone who writes deserves any credit they can get.
31) What is your desert island book?
I’m going to agree with Jordan and say The SAS survival guide.
32) And … what are you reading right now?
Shift by Rachel Vincent.
I’m not tagging anyone, this was embarrassing enough for me. I won’t make anyone else do it. Although I do think everyone else will look smart and well-read after this.

Maybe not as smart as you think. I just transferred the survey to my blog, and the classics portion is eerily similar to yours. Besides, I’ve never believed in reading something just because someone else thinks you ought to do so. Just read, I say. Anything.

Reading, for me, is for entertainment and education. I do think that I might enjoy some of the classics, if I ever actually get around to reading them…maybe.

I was going to comment but I’m not a Livejournal user.
Here’s what I was saying about yours though.
Ohhh….The Outsiders. I remember that books. It was my favorite when I was about 14. Loved that, and all the SE Hinton books. It could also be my how many copies owned one as I think I have three copies…in a box somewhere.
LOL I never noticed number 8 was missing. good catch.
Thanks for doing this!!

Whee, you did it! Would you believe I haven’t read any of the Jack Reacher books? I must correct that.
